We All Get Ideas Sometimes
Some of us decide to act on them and some of us just ruminate over them for decades. I like to consider myself a "Do'er", Ignitor if you will. Because life is for the living. I've had the idea to build my own house for quite some time now. I got serious about it about 3 years ago. I wrote it down as one of my main "Life Goals".
So fast forward to July 2, 2021, I finally saved enough to purchase my first plot of land cash.
It was a dream come true, I suppose it was my very own "Independence Day". So, during my saving I didn't want to come up off any of my cash or investments. I decided to take out a personal loan for a few thousand to cover it. I have now reached the point where I have just about paid off this loan and I am ready to get started with "next steps".
That's how I got here, I have been doing a lot of research on the internet about how to build a home from scratch. I ran across a few books and programs, I purchased. Just to learn what I don't now. Now I'm here.
After securing my land, I know that I need to keep it groomed and I have been doing that, but it gets "pricy". Then I got my architect. This is where I am at right now, he is not moving as fast as I want, so for now, he shall remain nameless. We shall call him "AT". Because he is never where I want him to be. However, the architect put together my first "plan" (he has few steps, but he did a site study to see how the sun hits the land, slope grades and what I can realistically fit)
Initially, I wanted to build with shipping containers, but good ol' Cobb County is not seeing it my way right now. No Bueno.
So, at this juncture, I am weighing my options, which material will I build out of? I have narrowed my selections down to Pre fabricated modular, steel and concrete. I'm working to stay away from wood, because the lumber prices have just been abysmal. Plus, I just like the style and look of steel and concrete.
So, won't you join me on my "How to Build a House" Journey? This is the first time I have ever taken on a build. I've had my Real Estate license for over 4 years now, this is a whole new ball game.
